Attempts were made to embossing pattern on a copper disc, completed only a partial success. Due to the high melt of the strong deformation pattern is only partially extruded. However, it was discovered the cause of this difficulty - an outside company doing the matrix does not leave room for the flow of the material during deformation, which is why it has failed to do our prototype in a proper manner. In a further step we modify the template and will attempt embossing pattern. However, two discs prepared with outlines of designs. Since the earlier attempt to create a mirror of the first disk failed, perhaps due to the large curvature of the mirror, or due to a small increase in the electron density caused by insufficiently strong deformation, treated steel segment of curvature smaller ball for the second disc bending previously prepared by careful polishing .
PhD report K. Kubok (May 2012)

My research in May: The new alloy with slightly changed composition has been prepared: Mg-3Zn-0.2-Ca. I have developed this as cast alloy to check the possibility of finding the new ternary or binary phase. In all previous Mg-Zn-Ca phase only one ternary phase has been found: Mg6Ca2Zn3.The alloys has been cast under the protective argon atmosphere at 750 oC.

Conference report (Oxford Instruments) J.Poplewska
Monday, 28 May, 2012, 14:06 Posted by Jagoda Poplewska
In 23-24 May 2012 I attended in Oxford Instruments EBSD Symposium and Workshop, Wiesbaden 2012. My participation in the Symposium was related to the presentation of research results of AA1050 aluminium alloy after 1 hour annealing in selected temperatures previously deformed by ECAP. My results were delivered in a 15 minutes presentation titled: ‘Early stages of recrystallization in ultra fine-grained AA1050 aluminium alloy’. Second day, there were Workshop and were presented basic and advanced processing, sample preparation techniques, etc. One of the goals of this conference was integration of Scientists and Industry involved in EBSD, exchange of experiences and presentation of possibilities of AZtec 2.0. plasmonic cells efficiency improvement confirmed

I would like to confirm the efficiency improvement due to effective light scattering from plasmonic nanostructures. My experiments were carried out on nontexturised silicon solar ells. In both cases when silver nanopaticles were deposited on bare cell surface or within antireflection layer increase of efficiency was about 5% or more connected with gain of short circuit current. These are very promising results for further studies.
