Main studies carried out during February:

- microhardness measurements of the melt spun ribbons in the as- cast state and after annealing at different temperatures,
- preparation of new pentanary alloy,
- phase composition analysis of quaternary alloys with silicon and copper addition by SEM,
- XRD analysis of quaternary ingot with molybdenum addition,
- analysis of the results obtained so far,
- participation in seminars and lectures,
- preparation of an abstract for the conference ISMANAM 2012

During last 3 months I was trying to find solution in case of silver nanoparticles deposition. Due to hydrophobic properties of titanium dioxide surface, spin caoting deposition isn't very efective. I tried also to mixed coloidal solution with some alcohols to increase wettalbilty or let the drop of coloidal solution evaporate , but this way didn't slove the problem of to small number of deposited particles. The resolution heve been found by putting sample into to coloidal solution and leave it for about 15 minutes. At that time particles has fallen on the sample surface. This experiment has shown increase of density of particles on the surface. But still a lot of work has to be done to extract disired structure. Naw I am starting the simulation stage as well. By computer simulation I will studding interactions of plasmonic strukctures and light.

My research in February:



Table above presents all types of bioresorbable magnesium alloys, which were cast in February.
These alloys were produced in argon atmosphere in 750 C. I also focused my interest on theoretical background of TEM studying Introduction to Conventional Transmission Electron Microscopy written by Marc De Graef.

Preparation of the cell for the measurement of the electromotive force (EMF) for liquid ternary Al-Li-Zn alloys, especially in Li-rich, in which Al/Zn is 0.14. Analysis data and calculation of the partial molar thermodynamic functions, like enthalpy, entropy and Gibbs energy. Description of the temperature and concentration dependence of the electromotive force.

Last month I focused on preparing an article (“Microstructure and mechanical properties of AA7475/AlN compacts with varied reinforcing particles size”) and an abstract (“Effect of reinforcement particle size on microstructure and mechanical behavior of AlZnMgCu/AlN nano-composites produced using mechanical alloying”) for two oncoming conferences – “Composites 2012 – theory and practice” which will be held in Poraj on 18-20 April and “International Symposium on Metastable, Amorphous and Nanostructured Materials (ISMANAM)” which will be held on 18-22 June in Moscow.
