Line
detection
Lines in a given an experimental CBED pattern can be marked manually (using a mouse in picture box with the pattern) or detected automatically (using "Line detection" command button of the program main interface).
In order to mark a line manually, (left) click the mouse and drag the cursor along the line. Right click on the line ending disk removes the line.
In order to mark the lines automatically, click on the “Line detection” command button. Automatic detection is never 100% correct. Therefore, an inspection of the lines is recommended. It is convenient to do the inspection after indexing; after correcting lines, the pattern must be indexed again. The parameters controlling line detection can be changed in “Settings/Miscellany/Line detection”. Besides fixing the maximal number of detected lines, one can decide whether to use a mask on Hough transform and/or whether to apply ‘backmapping’ of G.Gerig and F.Klein (Proc. 8th Int. Conf. on Pattern Recognition, Paris, France 498-500 (1986)). The latter is recommended. The colors of the lines and the size of the disk at the line ends can be changed in “Settings/Miscellany/Drawn lines”.
Location of the lines can be verified and corrected by right click in the vicinity of the line (but at the line ending disk). The curves show the profile averaged over the areas marked on the pattern. By dragging the mouse, the line is moved in the indicated direction. The magnitude of the drag depends on the distance of the marker from line ends: the closer end is moved more than the distant one. The distance between neighboring ticks at the top of the profile box corresponds to one pixel on the pattern.TEMStrain v.1.3, Dec. 2014
